Hello everyone,

in a house (built in 1992) there are the connections shown in the picture. Can someone tell me what kind of connections these are? I guessed LAN. The cable fits as well but it doesn’t seem to work. Thanks and best regards, Ash

this is a LAN socket, exactly. What have you already tested? What was connected to the socket before?

Since there are only 4 wires for 2 connections below, it could also be RJ45 only for telephone wiring. What is on the other end .. that is, where does the socket wiring go. (I hope I'm not embarrassing myself right now )

You can see that only the middle 4 contacts are present. So RJ45 in ISDN telephony (S0) configuration. You can pull it out, it’s no use to you anymore today. ISDN functionality is nowadays always implemented via the router in connection with analog phones.

Well, with luck the whole thing is laid in the empty conduit and you can pull a LAN cable through. So don't just tear everything out and seal it up without thinking.

Hi, thanks for the answers. Ok, I think it is RJ45/ISDN and then it’s no use anymore. I had already connected a router, but as I said, no internet came out of the other sockets. So I already thought that it is a super modern ISDN system from the 90s. I have found 3 sockets in the house so far. I think they are connected for the (now outdated) telephony. Well, then I’ll just leave the sockets as they are.
