That does not necessarily depend on the interest rate. However, the repayment rate should not necessarily be only 1% now. 2% is the minimum, more of course is better.

Well, the lower the interest rate and the associated initial repayment, the longer the loan lasts.

And much worse is what comes after 10 years - which is often conveniently ignored because you have a great interest rate

With 2% repayment and 1.4% interest, after 10 years only a fraction of, for example, 200,000 euros has been repaid...

And that is exactly what my question was aiming at.

That is known to me. But what if a [Kapitallebensversicherung] matures by then?

So the question cannot be answered so generally.

Or it is [Vermietung und Verpachtung]... I am not so interested in the repayment if I want to generate costs for tax purposes.

And whether you repay only 2% at 2% or 4% interest... the difference in the outstanding debt is not that big, at least not if you use the argument "interest rate risk and affordability."
