The danger in this is that if you still get salary increases in your younger years and then perhaps your wife starts working more again later, you can quickly use up your special repayment options if you are already spending 2% of the 5% for your own security.

You are right about that again. However, there is also the repayment rate change as a mechanism, if you have this option.

That certainly corresponds to more than 1% repayment. And that is the real sticking point of this thread. Wanting to start from the outset with only 1% repayment.

Danger? More like luxury problems.

Especially since after 10 years loan parts can be cancelled at any time, i.e. unlimited special repayments are possible

Yes, it is a luxury situation. On the other hand, it's annoying when you have money lying around almost without interest and can only repay the loan in X years. That might be almost irrelevant with interest rates of 1.x%, but for me at 3% I can hardly wait for the next special repayment date.

By the way, the 10 years is not entirely correct either. It is 10.5 years after full disbursement. For me, that’s a difference of over 2 years.
