Hot water could be handled by a hot water heat pump. It runs most of the year on [Photovoltaik-Strom], using it much more efficiently than the instantaneous water heater.
Additionally, if the insulation really doesn't work out, a heat pump can be installed as a supplement to the fossil fuel heating. It then runs until the outside temperature drops below a certain point, after which the existing heating takes over.
I don't know how many percentage points these measures could bring.
I wouldn't start with solar thermal anymore. Everywhere it runs, [Photovoltaik] also runs. And that makes more sense for everyone.
