Even with a 500m2 plot, I would rather build towards 10,000 liters. This way you can buffer some water during rainy periods and in winter. Depending on how the garden is designed, even with a small garden, a few m2 per irrigation are used up right away. I wouldn’t care whether it’s concrete or plastic. It depends on what fits better in terms of size, shape, and price. I would install an inlet filter with backwash right away. It can also be misused as a fresh water feed. Choose a pump with sufficient volume and pressure, especially when it comes to irrigation. Forget about supplying the toilet or similar inside the house. It’s not worth it at all (double piping, etc.). Furthermore, the cistern is too small if you want to irrigate. After two to three dry weeks at the latest, it’s dry.
Thanks Rick. Helpful. But to be honest, I am really somewhat unsettled because even experts sometimes tell me different things. And now, of course, there is uncertainty about what is right. Does it maybe make sense to talk to the architect? I originally also had the idea to install significantly more volume, but the specialist dealer advised me against it because I probably won’t empty the tank and dirt, etc. will accumulate. Plot size: 530. So you definitely wouldn’t do a toilet either? Even with 3-4 people in the household?
