Hello everyone :)

I am new here in the forum and I hope this is the right place in the forum.

I am currently planning a new building. Now I have reached the point where I am thinking about my computer locations. I deal with computers a lot privately as well as professionally.

I am planning an office where I often work from home. It would of course be great not to have my computers next to me but in a separate room. It would also be great if not every child needed their own PC but this could also be solved centrally.

I thought of 2 possibilities.
1. PCs in a central room and distributing the signals to the rooms via HDMI cable or USB cable in the walls. I am not sure if this is even possible?

2. PCs in a central room and terminals in the individual rooms. Here the question arises for me, which terminals are suitable here (up to 4 monitors) and do I need special software? (I know Citrix professionally but I don't know how expensive it can be for private users)

What options do I have or do you use?

Thanks in advance for your tips!

Regards
Chris

That means you want to set up a workspace and a private school for the children in the house ^^

Isn't that a bit over the top? We have 125 sqm. A TV, 2 laptops (HP work & Mac private), 2 iPads and 4 phones permanently connected to the WLAN.

That works without any problems. Running any cables is nonsense. Just like setting up computer rooms when everything is heading towards mobile devices anyway.

At work I had/have 3 monitors, now 1 laptop! It all works, I don't miss anything

What is the purpose of this?

The children will definitely want to play, so a terminal is useless anyway.
On the other hand, whether you put a terminal or a PC in the room makes no difference in my opinion.
HDMI and USB in the wall don't work well anyway.

There are several possibilities. You could work with virtual machines and access them via a client. However, you still need a client PC. Alternatively, you could use KVM switches. Nowadays, this can also be done over IP. That means you have HDMI, USB... only locally. However, I do not consider any of this to be effective. For little money, there are silent mini PCs. Some of them can even be hidden behind the monitor. If you need a computer with a lot of power, put it in a rack and access it remotely. Alternatively, use a VM on a server.

You don't have to question the point of it. :D I'm just tech-savvy and will never manage with just a laptop. For my work, I need as many large screens as possible ;) I assume having 4 PCs and 4 TVs, and I would like to have everything as centrally as possible and only set up screens and input devices at the respective locations. ;)

Ok, I already thought it would come down to terminals or NUCs. However, this means I already have no noise level in the rooms, which is very important to me.

Which ones are suitable here if you want 4 screens? Do I need special software for this, or is Windows Remote enough? (It should be possible to have different screens with different resolutions)

Sorry, that is the absolute biggest nonsense I have read in this forum so far. Nowadays there are mini PCs that cost 300 euros, take up no space, and are inaudible. Or laptops, of course.
