Cat flap on KfW55 house with ventilation - experiences?

Or window open. Friends always have their window slightly open. They wedge something in between so that it is fixed at an angle. It's a matter of time before a two-legger makes use of that.

The simple cat flap is even worse. Always open, anyone/everything can come in/out. Drafty and leaky. There must be something else besides the PetWalk, but everything is better than a simple cat flap in the house.

The "simple" cat flap today is generally chip-secured and only opens when the cat with the chip wants to come in. And the flap has at least a simple seal.

No, that is not a solution for a KfW55 house with ventilation. Our windows are mostly closed. We don't even need to discuss the issue of burglary security at this point ... ;)

I am in favor of manual opening. It keeps unwanted surprises away. Birds, snakes, mice always come in, and cats manage to get through even with two - with chip

One of our cats always wants to go out around 4 o'clock. A cat flap would be nice for that too.

We had the Sureflap retrofitted into a floor-to-ceiling window. The glazier replaced the entire glass element for this.

It also works with a chip, so it only lets our cat through. I don’t know if that always works without side effects in practice — so far she didn’t go through but had her human open the terrace door.

Whether this has a negative effect on our ventilation system or our exhaust hood I can’t say. I haven’t noticed any. And whether the poor seal of this tiny flap causes an additional 5 EUR in heating costs per year honestly doesn’t matter much to me. It hasn’t been noticeably cold near the flap this winter either.

Honestly, mine have brought in so much prey and I at least want to know when I have to look for a mouse. Barefoot on mouse guts and so on. 4 o'clock is quite a popular time, I know that.
