Can vinyl flooring also be used instead of wall tiles?

In my kitchen, there are still ugly wall tiles installed that I want to replace in the medium term.

After being convinced of the advantages of vinyl floors, I am wondering whether one can (also) replace the wall tiles with vinyl floors.

Is that possible?

Then presumably vinyl for gluing should be used and not click vinyl. Am I right?
Assuming a certain vinyl pattern (that I like) is only available as click vinyl.
Can this also be attached to the wall?

After all, vinyl is not as heavy as wall tiles and does not require impact sound insulation on the wall.

Hello Tobias. On a factual-technical level, you want to attach a floor covering to the wall. It will be obvious that different aspects must be considered for wall surfaces than for a floor covering. Of course, you can degrease the wall tiles, sand them, prime them with a primer for non-absorbent substrates (as an adhesion promoter), and then fill the joints. Because the joint grid should not later show through. Then, (in theory) you can glue a flexible floor covering with a corresponding, very fast-setting adhesive system. Please note that every adhesive has a so-called "pot life." This is the time window in which you can still work with the adhesive. In the meantime, you need several people to hold the floor covering, which has its weight, on the wall. In short: what you suggested or envision is simply put a "crazy idea"! There are certainly many other options to apply a corresponding wall covering that is advertised for this purpose. Leave it with click vinyl & co., please. It will cost you time, nerves, and money, and on the other hand, only frustration in many forms will result, without a chance of implementing the initial idea as desired. Regards: KlaRa

In the kitchen of the transitional shelter, we stuck vinyl flooring on the wall for budget reasons. We are very satisfied with the result. There used to be a tiled backsplash, which we simply removed and applied the vinyl as a splash guard. It holds with simple mounting adhesive, and the edges at the bottom can be sealed with acrylic.

Of course it can. I have also installed laminate on the wall before. However, there was also a wooden stud wall available. Using construction adhesive should not be a problem. You can work in rows, so the adhesive can cure in between. But construction adhesive bonds like crazy, so it should also work in one go. The tipping moment on a straight wall is very low. The vinyl tends to move downward, but the floor prevents it from slipping.
