Here is a drawing.
Since it is a mixed-use area, we are free of restrictions.
A bungalow because the plot allows it and it is a good setup for old age. It is also practical with a child to have everything on one level.
The idea of the L-shape comes from wanting a covered terrace and thus being protected from the street.
You could also place the carport on the south side and cover the terrace area behind it, but wouldn't that look like a patch-up job?

A conservatory is not really my thing.

Are there also a handful of dimensions for that? ... what is that? Does that belong to the OP? ... I wouldn't build with them. Coverings can also be realized differently. I am often surprised by some questions (in general) and wonder myself how future builders have gone through life like that. If I want to build, I know all new development areas and also the older ones within a 20km radius of my place of residence and absorb all possibilities of building... so that I don’t have to ask what it looks like ;) But whatever: if the plot allows it and your budget, then build your dream house as you please!

In my opinion, it was about the fact that a hip roof may be more expensive than a gable roof or that a gable roof is possibly considered cheaper (thread #14) ... according to the offer I have, that is not always the case ... the builder mainly offers hip roofs or includes them in his construction service description – exceptions to this are probably well paid ...
If I connected that wrongly in the context of the thread – sorry ... :(

No, not shrugging shoulders, but sticking out your tongue: Your general contractor wants, brazenly, with the argument of the additional effort of two gable triangles, to get more money from you for a less complex roof. These boots are made for walking - send him packing.

*sigh* ... I almost suspected it :-p ... on Friday I have a meeting with the BU and then I'll have the offer explicitly explained to me ... then we'll see ... maybe there will be an extra thread ... didn't want to hijack this one ... :-/
