Would it be an option to build a conservatory instead of a terrace? It could also be used as living space in winter.

I will draw the property today. I had placed the front door facing north so that the hallway from the entrance does not feel like a tunnel and the path to the living room is not too long. Then you could place the carport in this spot and have a door canopy.

The terrace can only be reached through the kitchen, I prepare and you set the table and get drinks, that doesn't work, the cook will be knocked over. Therefore, plan the main access to the terrace in front of the island additionally.

Only if you compare pears with very thick apples: in this case, it will probably mean comparing a binder tent roof with a more steeply pitched rafter gable roof. In principle, hip roofs are usually only topped by hips at an angle.

With an L bungalow you can only make one gable anyway. There should then be manageable additional costs.
