Hello,
in the hope of perhaps helping someone who, like me, wants to build a raised dishwasher:
The question of how to get an Ikea kitchen with a raised dishwasher without having to leave an ugly gap underneath to open the door has been bothering me. So last week, I walked into an Ikea and took the kitchen appliance brochure with me. And lo and behold: on the top model Enastände it says: "Integrated sliding hinges; allow installation with baseboards in all baseboard dimensions."
That made me wonder if this might be the solution to my problem. As I found out, there are also dishwashers with such hinges from other manufacturers, e.g. Siemens, Neff... it’s called "Vario hinge" there.
Quote from a site called bobselektro: "A perfect solution for the smallest gap dimensions between the furniture fronts is offered by the Neff VARIO HINGE. With devices with this Vario hinge, the fully integrated furniture front shifts slightly upwards when the device is opened. This means that larger gap dimensions in the furniture fronts are no longer necessary for high installation of this dishwasher."
With the DIY instructions from an IKEA expert and this insight, I am now quite confident to get an optically pleasing solution. When the time comes next year, I will report back.
