It was the same with us.. Fri until 2:00 pm, never on Saturdays.. Saturday is ok, everyone wants their weekend after all, but from Friday you could have already used the daylight

You, I don’t have a problem with finishing work at all. Everyone needs their recovery time and has a right to their free time.... But that usually happens in the construction industry compulsorily in January or February when there is snow. I have to say, I am here at 700m on the Alb.... there will almost certainly be snow....

Why am I asking here? Well, to get a feeling of how it is for others who currently have or had construction sites. Then I can assess whether I am mistaken and maybe my demands are too high or what the current standard in the trade is, of which I have no idea.... If I now hear "No, that is normal and okay".... well, then that’s how it is.... If three people respond right away saying that they are currently really pushing hard to get as much done as possible before the snow, then I can go into conversation with the site manager.

It depends on what you have agreed upon - your observations are normal.

With us, work continues as long as there is light or a work step requires a break (e.g. the concrete has been poured).

On Fridays, we worked until 2 p.m., unless it was pouring rain when it came to the shell construction. Then, work ended earlier during the week as well.
Saturday was always a day off.

During the wintertime until Christmas, we often provided the craftsmen with warm food and plenty of hot coffee, cookies, and chocolate during the lunch break because it was freezing cold.

One day before Christmas Eve, almost all of them came again to make the building weather-tight, even though they actually already had two days of company holidays. They were called by the carpenter.

Our topping-out ceremony was not until mid-January. Instead of money, they definitely wanted to celebrate with us. Do I need to mention that it was a super nice celebration?
My advice: behave properly and humanely towards your craftsmen and don’t eye other construction sites. You have surely arranged appointments for trade inspections, but as long as these are kept, you have no reason to take action.

So far, nothing has spoken against the start of construction. We are going into the Christmas break with a fully cast basement ceiling. If the weather remains stable, the roof truss will be erected at the end of January / beginning of February... In this spirit: Happy Holidays!
