Building as a Single Person - Exchange of Experiences

I would rather see you in a bungalow or [ETW]. Why build so big again....

If you have the opportunity to get an attractive plot of land, strike immediately! These opportunities are becoming increasingly rare, and since you are also financially well off, I wouldn’t wait at all. But that’s just my point of view, I see all around me that hardly anyone can get their hands on plots of land anymore.

I would see you more in a bungalow or condo. Why build so big again....

Bungalow is not my thing. Condos suitable for me are (feeling) even rarer than plots of land in my region (and those are already very, very rare). I don't want to live in the city anymore (city outskirts or happily 10km outside, where it is quiet). Therefore, a nice condo is getting complicated (unless you build a multi-family house yourself).

Have others done something similar? How did you build? Just for yourselves, or rather again a "family house", even if you moved in alone? Ultimately decided against a house, in favor of a condominium?

Similar situation with me and three kids (I’m also around your age). I bought a two-family house and am renovating the ground floor apartment with garden for myself. That way there is space for the kids, but the apartment could also easily be used completely by me alone. I’m still too young for a condo – I’m living in one now and it’s (currently) not my thing.

Thumbs up! A house is also just a utilitarian object. The times of "I die in my house built with my own hands from rubble" are just as over as the job "from apprenticeship to retirement in one company." Times are changing...
