Does the development plan even allow for 3m (2m) retaining walls? For us, a maximum of 1m is permitted (which is only just enough for many to level the property). A 3m high retaining wall will topple if structurally miscalculated, which could lead to fatalities under unfavorable circumstances.

See the sketch on the front page. It also shows how he terraced his property.

I will build my retaining wall only after a structural engineer gives the okay. Whether that will happen remains to be seen.

You don’t respond to posts at all, do you? Or to questions? You will get the okay. That is certain. The only question is where your wall will stand and whether you are willing to give up so much land and money in the bank. If I were your neighbor, I would be laughing so hard to myself when I see that you are already building a wall.

I would like to see where the corresponding development is. A site plan is helpful. What does the development plan say? 3 m retaining walls? Is there a building permit for that? Why does one insist on leveling the property?

Your neighbor must take the terrain slope on your property into account. That means the rising terrain results in higher earth pressure on his wall. You cannot place your 1m wall directly on the boundary, but it would be possible with a distance of 1-2m. If you have a good architect and structural engineer, they will tell you that. Leaving it like this is not an option for you? If yes and you do not cooperate with the neighbor, how does your neighbor intend to set the angled retaining wall? He has to arrange the wall buttress on your property, have you ever thought about that?
