Upturned means that the slab is supported with wood underneath and the edges protrude beyond the wood. It looks as if it were a solid slab of natural stone.

Are you sure you want it recessed (I think you mean flush-mounted)? With the sink, I would definitely recommend undermount. For the cooktop, of course, it looks nice. However, with quartz you can have problems with pans that hang over the edge (heat) and it won’t be easy to find a matching cooktop later if the current one breaks. That’s why we decided on an undermount sink and a surface-mounted cooktop.

Thank you for the advice. Yes, we mean flush and we are also aware of the replacement issue. But we weighed it up and still want it :D. I hadn’t considered the heat from the pans. We don't want induction but will use a standard ceramic hob—could that be problematic?

Flush with the sink must be really well done, I actually don't see any real advantages over undermount (except maybe the edge protection with ceramic). I don't want to recommend anything for the old ceramic cooktops. That is so far removed from any rationality, it's not worth a discussion.

This also does not require any discussion. I do not want a recommendation either; it was about the question of whether a flush installation could cause problems. However, I actually can’t imagine that because an induction cooktop will definitely get just as warm during use.

Not with wood. With the same material as the slab. So granite. It looks like that on the edge – like 4cm solid.

Daily business. The basin is no problem. It is fitted to the millimeter, just like the hob. If I’m already spending a fortune on such a slab, then I want it to look nice too.
