in a private setting, one can almost universally apply the following simple rule for photovoltaic systems:
[*]Photovoltaic: As large as possible, all directions
[*]Storage: none
By the time the storage pays for itself, it is broken. Many charge cycles make it economical, but many charge cycles also cause it to wear out faster. It will probably take a while before the break-even point is clearly reached. Until then, storage is a nice hobby that gives you a good feeling of autonomy.
With balcony power plants, the situation is somewhat different. Due to the limitation of the maximum power, storage has a functional advantage. I can install more modules than the maximum allowed feed-in power. The storage acts as the buffer, the additional modules provide a constant supply.
