At night it is still so cool here that there is dew on the lawn in the morning. My drip irrigation has not run at all this year. The lawn only gets the minimum needed to force it to deeper roots. It also makes a difference whether the garden is large or small, how big the lawn area is... Lawn is the most demanding thing you can have.

Coloring brown grass green, common in California. However, it only improves the appearance.

Yes, that is also an option. It is also done on golf courses here. It is not just for aesthetics. Also lower surface temperatures. In California, mostly artificial turf is laid

then you are more the exception with the groundwater. Unfortunately. Thank you for your answer. I will pass it on like that. It is not my lawn, I don’t have one, just some weeds, meadow mixture that is kept short and at the moment rather brown, except for some weeds that are still blooming nicely. Except for the vegetable garden, all other plants get enough to survive, i.e. nothing for weeks.

Causes for dry and brown grass are mowing too short and too often. Lawn mowers do their part. I myself have the best and green lawn. Yes, that also depends on the soil quality. Still, you don't have to mow 3 times a week. Just leave it a bit higher and mow when rain is in sight.

Even tall grasses turn brown, it would be nice if it were that simple. It is getting cold here, but we no longer have dew like with , the surfaces are too dry. It has been lacking rain for weeks again. Mulching, longer grasses, etc. help save water, but eventually everything collapses. Last year even the clover and prairie garden - which, however, lasted 3 months without water.
