Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like to ask for your help with my Ikea kitchen.

The problem is as follows:
In the right corner of the kitchen, I want to install a corner cabinet (ME188 |Tür links| Anschlag noch nicht definiert).
As you know, this cabinet comes with a cover panel about 7.3 cm wide.

First, a picture:

Goal:
As can be seen in the picture, there is a gap between corner cabinet number 4 and the refrigerator.
I would like to fill this gap with a 40 cm wide cabinet.
Just for your information: The fridge door opens to the right.

This is how it should look:

Important: I reduced the width of the fridge by 7 cm in order to build this design for you.

Problem:
Actually, the wall with a length of 161 cm is long enough provided I shorten the cover panel supplied with the corner cabinet significantly, about 1 cm, or leave it out completely. Is there a minimum size that I absolutely have to adhere to?

Implementation and resulting questions:

I wanted to equip the 40 cm cabinet with a door hinge on the right and the corner cabinet with a hinge on the left.
Here I do not know if this is possible? I leave this question to you.

Both cabinets will have the Vienna handle in the short version (153mm), so I do not expect any disruption/collision due to the handles.

Is my idea feasible?
I look forward to your feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Hello!

The spacer strip has two functions:
1.: It ensures that the distance is correct in the grid for the wall cabinets, otherwise they would be laterally offset.
2.: It ensures that drawers can also be installed without the front hitting the handle, of course this also applies to doors.

Are the walls in the corner really exactly at a right angle?
This is usually not the case, and then your fridge will no longer fit in the gap, even if you shorten the spacer strip as much as possible...

I wouldn't want to stuff the gap so tightly under pressure.

And in general, I would rather opt for pull-outs than doors, this way you can more easily access the items in the cabinets.

Best regards

Thank you very much for the response. Your suggestions make sense. The corner of the room is highly unlikely to be right-angled. The kitchen installers are coming on Saturday, then it will become clear. After some careful consideration, I have decided to refrain from the stuffing solution. Thank you very much for the hint about the wall cabinet.
