Our house is certainly not furnished (or built) in a minimalist way. Otherwise, you wouldn’t build a HOUSE at all. Then a tiny house or mobile home, or something similar, would suffice...

To be honest, we actually have to buy most of our furniture new/used again, since we lived abroad before and sold almost everything for that. But you can also buy furniture etc. that is both good AND CHEAP. It doesn’t always have to be the expensive furniture store. There are many new pieces of furniture available at a significantly lower price in the many second-choice furniture shops!! And you can also find great stuff/deals on eBay Classifieds!!

Yes, sometimes you have to be satisfied with fewer demands. That can be good now and then. And of course, a bit of "bohemian" experience comes in handy!!

Yes, I am also very happy and grateful that we have kept the costs "low." Of course, we invested A LOT of time and effort in this! It can’t be done otherwise!! But the commitment/sacrifice of free time was worth it!! You also grow quite a bit with the new tasks/situations on the construction!!

Thank you very much for your respect. I humbly accept it.

If you knew how normal that is. Not necessarily the 70 sqm. But the "I let everything be done and then it just costs money - but that's cheap" you see so often when you work in a bank. Of course, that's much less now. I have also never spent that much money on it. For that, I always like to get creative myself in every new garden.

Well, it's certainly not normal but it happens more often. A 70m2 terrace is not standard, just like our 300m2 terrace. The wind is shifting right now. Many craftsmen are looking for jobs again. Many projects have been canceled for next year. Especially for single-family homes. Furniture and kitchens are not getting cheaper. Appliances are significantly more expensive.

It must be up to each individual how and what they spend their salary on. No one comes along and questions why you built at all. Or why you don’t manage with 110 sqm like others. But the TE’s wife! We are explicitly addressing the TE here and are not in a fundamental discussion. Of course, everything can be cheaper. But the TE is not asking for “particularly cheap”! He’s not even asking. One should simply point out to him that for some things you pay more than expected* I had a €300 carport in my detached house. That was sufficient for the circumstances. The base was suitable for dowels. But if you decide to save for your single-family house and plan for a 180 sqm architect-designed house with a shed roof instead of 110, 130 or 160 sqm for life, then you can assume that not everywhere the cheapest or low-cost standard will be installed. *The TE’s calculation is simply too cheap. Total costs of €500,000 only work with a savings plan, and that starts with the 180 sqm. But why shouldn’t he afford 180 sqm in good standard if he has saved well and has a good salary? A down-to-earth calculation is based on costs of regional craftsmen. If overall a calculation is too high, then cost screws are tightened. That can be by omission, lower standard or own labor. But that is then the second calculation with notes. The TE is not there yet. And it is also his task to see what he reduces cost-wise. That is not our task, since we know almost nothing about him. For both together! If you split the €50,000 I mentioned into €20,000 kitchen (now those who say blah blah that you can’t get a kitchen for four people for €20,000 will come, and Silke will soon say you can also put together a great and cheap kitchen on eBay), then €30,000 remain for the mentioned outdoor facilities. And that doesn’t get you far. Outdoor facilities usually include splash protection, porch, driveway and yard, terrace and some greenery (main garden area is not meant or included here). Possibly a fence. Possibly a carport. Or a shed, storage area. And if you look around at what others write here about how prices for garden landscapers have developed, material as well, you must not compare with prices from 4 years ago. For a house of 10 x 10 meters in length you will not be satisfied with just a 3 x 4 terrace. Possibly it wraps around the corner, thus consuming sqm, driveway also. Anyway: the €30,000 are gone faster than you can look. And yes, there is potential for personal labor in there, just like with floor coverings, but as already said: the builders have to think about that themselves based on the information.

You explicitly listed the landscaper again yesterday with 50k. 80k for the entire outdoor facilities is more than generous for a normal plot and normal demands, even if you don’t lift a finger.

That's right. Then I'm currently on track with my contribution when I say that 30000€ is already bold and not enough, even if it won't be a gilded terrace. And with a double carport or garage for 2 cars, I strongly assume a garage is desired when reading "company car," then I’m still with my calculation. Even if Rick says that the order situation is a bit more relaxed again: it won’t get cheaper.
