Hello everyone!

I am new here, and of course (who would have thought) I already have a few questions.
I want to redecorate my living room, and I've already checked out all kinds of furniture stores until I finally got stuck on the BESTÅ system from Ikea.
I simply liked it best in terms of design and modularity.

So I started planning before Easter.
But last week came the shock:
The BESTÅ DVD shelf 60x20x192cm is completely discontinued, and the DVD shelf 30x20x192cm is only available in white now.
And the FRAMSTÅ glass shelves 60x21cm (701.461.79) are also discontinued.
Great, of course with no announcements on the homepage...
My email inquiry about this has been unanswered for a week, so today I went to IKEA in Fürth.

And luckily they still had a few BESTÅ DVD shelves 60x20x192cm in beech (901.021.03) as remaining stock at a reduced price. How fitting that I wanted exactly this color.
So I packed two right away, no matter if I will really need them all later.

Unfortunately, the glass shelves were no longer available, probably all gone.
Does anyone know where I could still get them? I would need 2 to 4 pieces...

2 BESTÅ TV benches with FRAMSTÅ panel rows side by side, the TV will be hung in the middle, and glass shelves on the left and right next to it.
The TV is of course smaller, but in the planner only the 60" can be hung between two rows.
The gray drawers in the middle are supposed to represent the amplifier and DVD player.

And then I have a question about the FRAMSTÅ system:
You can cut holes for the cables in the FRAMSTÅ panel inserts, but how do the cables get into the panels?
I will probably mount the cabinets with a 1cm distance from the wall because of power and antenna cables, but the panels have to be mounted directly on the wall.
So how do I get my cables from the BESTÅ bench into the panels?
Do I have to saw holes in the side end rails, or how did the IKEA designers imagine this?
In the assembly instructions, you only see how the cables come out of the panel out, but not how they are supposed to come in the panel...

I would be thankful for tips!

Best regards, Stefan

Hello, I will soon be assembling a Besta wall unit. Do you already have the 49 cm deep benches? They are also being discontinued. Of the matching drawers, there are only a few left in some stores. I think it's really disgusting that so many items are discontinued well before the end of the catalog year without any announcement. Grip is no longer available either, nor is there a suitable replacement.

What, those too? Where did you get that info? Of course, the IKEA guy didn’t say anything about that today... He only mentioned that it often happens that the info from headquarters comes 1-2 weeks before the delivery stop.

Oh, what are they even smoking at IKEA headquarters?!? Have they never heard of proper Product Lifecycle Management? Would it be too much to ask to announce a phase-out visibly for everyone 2-3 months in advance? They managed to do that nicely with galant and EFFEKTIV as well:

Is the entire series supposed to die? Or how do they expect you to fit an AV receiver anywhere? Maybe a lousy DVD player fits in the 40cm deep cabinets, but no AV receiver. My receiver just fits height-wise, a few more centimeters of clearance would have been nice... I’d have to leave the back open anyway for the cables.

And the height of the 49 cm deep bench of 26 cm fits exactly with 4 panels (each 32 cm) and a 38 cm high wall shelf, which comes to the same height as a normal cabinet of 192 cm. So you could only take the 64 cm shelf and 4 panels, but then the TV would be too high. Or 2 64 cm shelves and 2 panels in between, but then no TV fits anymore, or at least it looks darn awful. Or just panels, but then I lose way too much storage space.

Man, I really feel like returning the DVD shelves I bought today and building my own furniture...

Regards

BESTA is not being completely removed, on the contrary. New things are coming. For example, elements at 20 cm depth, which previously only existed in 40 cm, such as 60x64, 60x128. Maybe you can plan such an alternative?

Well, at least that's some good news. But still, I can't understand why the 120x49x26cm element is being removed. Because that somehow makes the FRAMSTÅ system useless... And I would have to think about how to place my receiver outside the BESTÅ system without it looking silly... and at the moment, I can't come up with a nice solution for that... By the way, I discovered something yesterday that I've been wondering about for a long time why it doesn't exist: A way to hang the BESTÅ wall shelves more comfortably. And by chance, I found this at US-IKEA: [BESTÅ Suspension rail]. Did that thing ever exist in Germany too, and are they only selling the remaining stock now? The PDF assembly instructions are from 2008, so it must be quite old... Best regards

I got a 128 cm high Framsta panel wall from the bargain bin for 19 €. Now the mystery of how the cables are routed has been solved. There is space for the cables behind the columns to the side. There are holes in the horizontal aluminum rail through which the cables can be routed out.
