Standing height, access (some basements are only accessible from the outside) Whether you like it or think wow, musty hole
I wouldn’t decide whether to keep the basement or not without an expert. The oldest part of your house is the one that can be renovated the worst, replacement is out of the question.
The musty smell is usually the first thing you notice :)
I’ll take a look at it, but before we decide, I would definitely inspect it with an expert. Also because I have no idea whether there is asbestos or not. You can’t just believe everything the agents say!
It’s probably best to plan to get rid of it first and then create a new basement. If it then turns out it can be preserved, that’s good too. But a lot has to fit for that. Personally, the whole story would put me off a bit, that is, from about ~1250m² suddenly just under 400m². A real estate agent should really have noticed that...
But well, if the price fits in the end, it doesn’t matter. When possibly buying the part of the plot from house A, it should be considered that this comes with corresponding costs (besides the purchase price).
It’s a large real estate company where the office staff create the exposés and the employed agents do the rest. That’s what the agent told me. I called her right after the building authority visit yesterday and she said she suspected something like that because the plot generally didn’t seem like 2000m² to her.
Of course, they should have researched that better beforehand, but in the end it actually suits me better, since just under 1300m² is still very large and the price will now probably change a bit. It does put me off a bit too, but a plot in that district is almost impossible to get, so I’m at least going to agree to the viewing, etc., because I can always say no.
I’ll just see if it’s worth it overall. If not, then it’s not.
The viewing is early this evening and I’ll report on what comes out of it!
