Apply for BAFA funding through the general contractor

Hello everyone,
I have a question. We are getting a subsidized air-to-water heat pump and are building through a general contractor [GU] and have a fixed price offer including the heating system. For the heating system, we decided on a better one which is also eligible for the subsidy.
Now I spoke with the heating installer regarding the subsidy. He said he wants to complete and submit it now, but it would go through the [GU] and not through us. Since he has to send an invoice and it is issued to the [GU], as they are also the client.

I don’t find that so great because then the [GU] receives the premium and I have to chase after it?
Who among you has also built with a [GU] and a subsidized heat pump? How was the application handled in your case?

Have you already signed the offer? The application for funding must be submitted before purchasing the heating system. If the heating system is included in the contract with your general contractor [GU], the signing of the contract counts as the purchase and you would be too late.

That is not correct!

The basic funding is applied for after commissioning.
For the innovation funding, the application must be submitted before the start of the measures.

However, new construction is always about promoting innovation.

Hello I inquired at BAFA today regarding funding for new construction related to domestic hot water heating. Statement from BAFA: for new construction this must be approved in advance but only applies from 3 residential units, all others fall through the cracks. For existing buildings, i.e. retrofitting, this can be funded up to 9 months after commissioning.
