Hello,

we are planning a quartz stone countertop from Ikea; but we are still in the middle of the kitchen planning.
Aside from the material, for some countertops with delivery time (so the measured countertop) you can order a flush-mounted sink.

Now it could be that I want a different, higher quality sink.
Especially since I also need a temporary solution. I could install the higher quality one right into the temporary countertop.
But will that then still work flush-mounted with the final Ikea custom-made countertop?????

Maybe someone has a tip for me, best regards Hochglanz

Good thought, but I have to stop you there unfortunately, flush-mounted sinks are / have to be installed in the countertop at the factory. So the decision boils down to what is more important to you: stone countertop from Ikea -> then you live with an IKEA sink or sink from elsewhere, for example Blanco (I like that) -> then find a stonemason / kitchen studio who, after the temporary assembly with a makeshift countertop (cheapest stainless steel sink), will measure the board / make a template and then supply and install the countertop including the flush-mounted sink. Or option 3 Flush-mounted sink not so important after all -> Ikea kitchen, Blanco sink (have I already said that I like it?) then have the sink installed in the provisional countertop and afterwards set into the stone. Warning: for this you need all the documents (measurement sketches, installation instructions) of the sink for ordering the countertop because of the cutout. My favorite at Blanco is anthracite, because tea / coffee stains / other marks do not show as much, there are also faucets in the same look, by the way also from other manufacturers. But have I already said that I like it?

Good morning,

thank you very much for your friendly feedback.

Which Blanco sink do you have? There are also three different base units..

Personally, I would now prefer granite, but my husband absolutely wants to install LED light strips under the countertop again (as in the current kitchen). These are connected to a motion sensor. That means I enter the kitchen and a great light immediately turns on. (I am not a fan of TOTAL illumination).
Another advantage is that every drawer that is opened is very well illuminated.

And since the quartz countertop from Ikea is only placed on top — so not solid quartz all the way through, but a carrier that holds the material — a groove can be made there (I even believe I generally saw this at the kitchen show in the Swedish furniture store.. So from the factory).
That is not possible with granite or only for a very, very high extra charge.

Unfortunately, there are absolutely no first-hand experience reports on the internet!! Not even here..

What kind of groove?

Hello,

with the quartz stone slab and a fitted kitchen, we discovered a groove directly below the slab.

But even if it was created internally by them for whatever reasons.. At least the carrier of the quartz is significantly softer than, for comparison, a granite slab.
Otherwise, the LED light strip protrudes too much.. and the drawers (or their fronts) no longer open/close completely.
Since the fronts are flush with the carcass.

Oh, now I understand. Granite countertops are generally not solid either, but rather a chipboard is placed underneath. It shouldn't be particularly difficult to carve out a recess for the lighting. The quartz slabs are also not made entirely of pure quartz on top, but a synthetic product made of quartz and a polymer resin.
