Just by the way... does anyone know someone who had a break-in?

This year, an attempt was made to break open the patio door at an acquaintance's place. It didn’t work or made so much noise that they didn’t continue, and "only" the damage to the door occurred (expensive enough).

Just by the way... does anyone know someone who has ever had a break-in? I know someone whose car was stolen in front of the door, but I only know about break-ins from movies. Please don’t get me wrong, we also have RC2-N and are worried... but in other countries, people even leave their doors unlocked.

I know 2 people personally and from hearsay in the neighborhood also once. The worst thing is they were shopping at 5 p.m. They pried open the window even though the parents-in-law were at home.

In the last 1.5 years in our residential area, no - but there have been various thefts from gardens (grills, parasols, garden furniture, etc.) or from garages that weren't properly locked (tools). So far, no one has dared to enter the houses. In addition, various parts have been stolen from different cars (BMW navigation systems). I also don’t worry much about break-ins into the house - windows always closed, doors locked when we aren’t there, shutters down at night. Plus, power off at the external sockets (all of which can be switched from the inside in our place).
