AMMERÅN Utility Sink

After water damage to my 15-year-old and otherwise intact Faktum kitchen with Nexus birch veneer fronts (partially swollen countertop, damaged sink base cabinet), I am considering constructing a sink module. This would save me a long wait for a 2.86m long countertop. I could directly take home countertops available in stock at Ikea and install the module in between. I have the AMMERÅN drop-in sink in view. Although it was developed for Metod, with appropriate adjustable plastic feet you can roughly reach Faktum working height. I have an alternative new Faktum sink base cabinet plus front. I was told that AMMERÅN might even be mountable on it. Theoretically, I can try that out beforehand. My question: does anyone have experience with the AMMERÅN sink so far? Or another good renovation suggestion?

Why don't you leave the swollen board for the few weeks until the delivery of a custom countertop?

I want a functional kitchen as quickly as possible. After replacing the corner valves, the sink has already been dismantled. The countertop was cut into 2 parts and dismantled. I thought Ammerån would be a quick and stylish solution. I like large sinks. The countertops from the hardware store that I liked do not have the right depth of 60cm for IKEA base cabinets. You would have to create a kind of 2cm niche behind them. I had an offer made, it would come to about 700 euros including removal of the old countertop and reinstallation. About 4 weeks' waiting time for the craftsman service.

If you like the sink, that is certainly a great solution. At Bauhaus, there are solid wood countertops with a depth of 63.5 cm (depending on the store, also as stock items) and laminate countertops with a depth of 90 cm available as special orders (Resopal, approx. 2 weeks delivery time). Hornbach also has laminate countertops with a depth of 63.5 cm from Kaindl, partially in stock. Carpenters who work with countertops from Egger or Kaindl can also cut a 63.5 cm deep countertop for you. (although I believe Faktum countertops were only 62.5 cm deep)

In hardware stores, you can also order panels cut to any depth. Someone else can also take care of the installation. Carpenters can also order and install countertops. Whether €700 is a lot or a little depends on the material of the panel.

What I wouldn’t like about AMMERAN is that on the sides of the countertop there is a silicone joint, which is difficult to keep looking good over time.

Thank you for your tips! I'm thrilled I have to check it out. I had also considered Resopal. At first, I didn't like it that much. But it seems to be excellent in quality. If I can use the current kitchen for another 5-6 years, that's okay. Therefore, I could also live with the silicone joint. After that, everything that is still useful will move to the garden house and I can calmly plan a new kitchen.
