Hello everyone,

do you have an idea by approximately what % the installation of a wall heating system for 1-2 rooms in a single-family house costs more than an underfloor heating (per m²)?
How is the screed done with a vertical installation? Due to the circumstances, I think that the wall heating is somewhat more expensive than the underfloor heating (primarily the labor costs because of the vertical installation or also significantly higher material costs?).

It is of course important later not to place large furniture in front of the wall and it should definitely be avoided to drill dowels / holes into the wall.

Thank you very much for the cost increase assessment.

Regards

The costs are basically comparable, the heat is transferred into the plaster and radiates from there. No screed. Installation can be more expensive with water-based systems with low flow temperature if many cutouts have to be made to reach the required surface area. The price differences are more strongly determined by the choice of your installer than by the system. If only a small surface area is desired for the wall heating, electric systems can be a good solution. Wall systems are only moderately suitable for moderately insulated houses. Depending on the rooms involved - consider ceiling systems as well (we have them in our [“Eingangswaschküche”]).

Good, thank you. No, I mean for a single-family house planned/built in 2020 with good insulation values. Of course, one should generally choose interior walls with the wall heating rather than exterior walls, right?

May I ask what leads you to wall heating or the combination of underfloor heating & wall heating?

I believe underfloor heating and wall heating in the same heating circuit (and thus identical flow temperature, identical night setback, etc.) do not make sense; you unnecessarily complicate the construction and control of the heating system (mixers...).

I would also possibly prefer to consider the local installation of electric infrared heating panels (as mirrors, wall pictures, kitchen niche coverings, etc. ...) which can be switched on and off completely independently of the heating system. This is very cost-effective in terms of initial investment and can be used reactively in the very short term.

Isn't that the usual approach in bathrooms? Because with only underfloor heating, you don't get enough surface area?

Yes, actually in bathrooms, besides underfloor heating, wall heating is also often recommended? I thought there wouldn’t be major changes in the construction and control of the heating (mixer)? It’s just to increase the surface area in the bathroom and with the same flow temperature?
