Hello,
we are still at the very beginning and have plots of 750 and 1222 sqm to choose from.
The house will be between 160-190 sqm, two-story, and with a double garage.
I really can’t imagine how much space is left on a 750 sqm plot once you subtract the house with terrace, the double garage, and the driveway.

Do you possibly have pictures for comparison?

Many thanks and have a nice Sunday

Addition:

The plots are fairly square.

How much garden space is ideal for a household of 5 with full-time working parents? Although I do like to dream of having some space for a vegetable garden, which my dear husband is not so enthusiastic about.

I think area is significantly overrated for living comfort. You can also use or nicely arrange a small garden. Even on the smaller plot, you will still have about 600m² of space left. 600m²! That’s quite a lot. Especially if you have to maintain it. And that’s just the smaller plot.

For children, the garden is mainly interesting for playing in their early years. Later, they want to play with friends and explore things outside. Honestly, I don’t know any family where the playground equipment is intensively used over a longer period of time. Piled-up heaps of wood and stuff, on the other hand, are and remain interesting.

For the utility garden, you have to see what you want: to plant a little, enjoy it, harvest twice for four meals, or do you want to produce a noticeable part of your (vegetable) nutrition yourself?

You have the choice between fairly large and very large. Not between "causes us problems, barely manageable" and "would probably be a better alternative."

Draw a house in the desired size on the 2 plots in Google Maps ?? We have 750 sqm of land and about 12x9 the house and we have really a lot of garden for today's standards .... but that doesn't help you now .... you have to decide for yourself how much garden you need ...

Thank you very much for your answers. It reassures me that the smaller plot is obviously sufficient. I am not planning any farming now either. Tomatoes, rhubarb, herbs, a few bushes - raspberries, etc. are enough. A terrace is important and of course lawn. The children no longer need climbing frames in the garden. They are already 9, 11, and 12.

The decision will probably go towards 750sqm.

I will try that with Google Maps.
