Place the neighbor's garage on the property boundary to the east, and that's it.
To the west, I would definitely not do it. Do you want to get as close as possible to the neighbor with your house?
You are lucky to have a neighbor only to the east, take advantage of it and place the house as far away from the boundary with him as possible.
For the reasons mentioned, I would do the same. The other options are not really alternatives for me.
My two main points:
The garden becomes larger and is not visually constricted by a garage rear wall to the west.
Most important point: You have more space in the garden and no large (and useless front yard/courtyard) as with the other options.
