Hey,

I have a Zyxel switch. Is there a way to access the interface directly without having to connect a PC/laptop directly to the switch?

Thanks!

That will be told to you by the manual in case, won't it? How is anyone supposed to know here without knowing the model and also having exactly that switch. As a rule, a manageable switch has a GUI. But whether that applies to yours, no idea. Have you ever entered the IP of your switch in a browser?

Which type is it exactly about?
Is it about initial setup or accessing an already configured switch?

GS1900-24E is the switch. It’s simply about the access. And yes, of course, I entered the IP, but nothing happens. It doesn’t matter whether the Mac is connected via Wi-Fi to the FritzBox and that is connected to the switch, or via LAN which then ends at the switch, or via Ubiquity NanoHD Wi-Fi which also ends at the switch.

Ok, the GS1900-24E is also running for me.

During the initial setup, the switch must be brought into the router's IP network, or the address must not be the same as the router. If I remember correctly, the switch has the default IP 192.168.1.1 and my FritzBox is 192.168.178.1. To get the switch into the router network, I assigned my PC a fixed IP (192.168.1.2) and connected only the PC to the switch via LAN. Then I accessed the web GUI and changed the IP to 192.168.178.2 and saved it. From that point on, access ended. Now everything is connected to the FB and you can access the switch via the IP from any device, including via WLAN. It is important that the range of fixed IPs is excluded from the DHCP range in the router.

He will have a different IP.
The default is usually 192.168.1.1.
The Fritz usually runs in the 178 range, so you won’t find it.
For example, you can temporarily set the IP on your computer to the 192 network and access the switch.
Then you have to change its IP to the Fritz range and save it as the startup setting in the Zyxel.
