Wooden terrace - Which type of wood to choose, or WPC decking?

A wooden terrace is never permanently durable (not comparable to a stone terrace), but this is due to the German climate and not the wood used: in Norway, you can also find untreated wooden terraces that are 50 years old, regardless of the type of wood.

With really toxic and dark wood protection (which was used in the past, for example, to treat railway sleepers), it might also be possible here, but no one wants to sit on something like that, it stinks when the sun shines on it, is harmful to health, and may also be illegal.

Where the advantage of Walaba compared to Teak, Ipa, Bangkirai, Cumaru, Garapa, Bongossy, Kebony etc. is supposed to be, is not clear to me. For good reasons, it should be nothing from overseas.

Thanks for the hints regarding thermowood pine and installation. The terrace will be partly 4m deep, partly 2m, and about 11m wide in total. Maybe laying it perpendicular to the house also makes sense there. It should definitely be easier. Nevertheless, I will take the boards without profile, so smooth.

where is the decisive difference in climate between Germany and Norway? Although both countries have very different climate regions.
