He says these are definitely defects. He also says he wouldn't pay the GU anything more and has advised us to consult a lawyer. However, he also says that he doesn't know the market prices on the "end consumer market" well enough to give us precise figures.
As I said, I see it the same way.

Just ask another contractor what that costs. You need a new one anyway.

Why not? That is more than the "effective" working time they needed to brick up the floor. What would be a reasonable deadline for correction?
Demolition takes time. The deadline was already okay. He has now almost let 4 weeks pass.
