Continuous muntins – that is, muntins running through all three window panes – actually ruin the average U-value of the entire surface. Apart from that, a window with 3x3 continuous muntins and correspondingly nine individual "panes" costs more than twice as much compared to a single-pane, muntin-free window; the applied decorative muntins are comparatively very cheap.

How much extra should the triple cost? I wouldn’t have expected such a big difference since it’s actually the new standard. Opponents of triple often say that they let through too little light, which means, for example, that plants do not thrive as well anymore.

What about security (Einbruchschutz)? RC 2 is recommended, at least RC 2 N. We choose RC 2 on the ground floor and RC 2 N on the upper floor, all with triple glazing.

The applied decorative muntins are available comparatively for a small amount.

Unfortunately, we have found that glued-on muntins are considerably more expensive than internal ones, as a spacer is inserted between the glass panes along the muntins.
