Especially in the case of renovation, particular attention should be paid to the design of the overall system. If you install a heat pump. With only a 5 or 10 grid, it is not enough.

[*] All circuits should have a low and as similar as possible pressure drop. Accordingly, the largest and smallest circuit must be coordinated.
[*] The installation distances should be precisely adjusted to the heating load of the room so that the desired temperatures are reached without the need for throttling and regulation. (5 cm makes little sense. You only increase the pressure loss without significant additional performance. See attachment)
[*] The system should be designed for the lowest possible flow temperature.
[*] The heat pump should run as continuously as possible and not cycle. Therefore, it should not be oversized.

The efficiency pump alone can consume between 35-90 watts. With 16 hours of runtime per day, this corresponds to between 55 and 140 € per year just in pump electricity cost difference.
Additionally, there are the efficiency losses of the actual heat generation, which can be many times that amount.

Therefore, I would always have the design checked by an external party. The costs simply add up enormously over the operating period.

Oh dear, I see the next topic I still need to read up on... Thanks ! I will ask the energy consultant. Of course, we could also go bigger than 10cm (15cm), but I thought that would be too big anyway. Intermediate steps are unfortunately not possible. That is probably the compromise you have to make with a low build height.

My heat pump with 6.1kw, not modulating, has so far run a maximum of 3 heating cycles of 2-3 hours per day this winter. Yes, it has been mild so far, but that’s how it is in theory with continuously running heat pumps and pumps.

Some a***hole even advises against modulating heat pumps for these reasons, because continuously running circulation pumps counteract efficiency.
But these are peanuts and theories.

Outside the heating season, the circulation pump has even less to do, certainly not 16 hours.
And so 55 to 140 € will more likely become 10-30 € optimization potential.
