Which wood to use for a 1.5m wide wing?

Hello,

we are currently in the process of selecting the wood for our windows.
A friend of ours mentioned that pine wood for wood-aluminum windows with such wide sashes might not be stiff enough and could warp.

A sash weighs around 200 kg. He advises rather woods with a higher raw density.
Unfortunately, these are somewhat too expensive. Does anyone have any knowledge about this and can give us some advice?

The window maker says pretty much the same thing, but he also wants to make a sale...

I do not primarily see this as dependent on the type of wood. Wood-aluminum is already a delicate combination in itself, and a sash width of 1.50 m is generally "ambitious." Especially if the sashes are also lower than they are wide, I would advise against it. Aluminum windows can also be foiled. Therefore, I would take the opposite route with these windows (as a Plan B alongside reconsidering the sash dimensions), i.e., use aluminum as the actual (and outer visible) material and execute the inner visible side in wood look.

... and, one should perhaps reconsider the practicality of 150 cm window sashes.

That is not possible in this special case, as we get the windows through an acquaintance general contractor who passes on his discount from the window manufacturer to us. Unfortunately, they do not make aluminum windows.

Yes, we have already done that. But what is the alternative? For a sliding door, that is a bit too short, isn't it? We cannot make the window wider because the plans have already been approved.

Or rather, a sliding door would immediately cost 3-4 thousand more. That really isn't necessary. Especially since the windows are already expensive enough.

These are all things you don't really question at the beginning, something like, the architect knows what he is doing. Now we have the mess. I'll plan the next house myself.

I cannot find these windows at all: neither in #1 nor in #142 - there are double-winged ones with a width of 200 and also ones with widths of 300 and 325, but these are each triple-winged. So where do 150 width wings come from?

Hmm, something is strange there. You are right about the south view. There are three muntins visible each time. But in the ground floor plan, only one muntin is shown at the 3m windows. On the upper floor, there are two each.

Or am I seeing it wrong, and the muntin posts in the floor plan don’t actually represent the muntins?

To be honest, I based the offer on the floor plan. But good that you noticed it. I need to ask right away what that is supposed to mean.
