We approached this topic from a pragmatic perspective. The ground floor was fully tiled. Firstly, because of the advantages regarding the underfloor heating, and secondly, it is easy to clean and maintain. This is where most of the public traffic is, and even if you enter through the terrace door, it doesn't matter if you bring in moisture or dirt.

In the bedrooms on the upper floor, especially the children's rooms, there is inexpensive laminate flooring, which I won't be happy about when I have to tear it out in a few years once the children have mostly grown out of it.

Kitchen, bathroom, utility room, and hallway tiles, vinyl in the entire rest. The vinyl floor has the advantage that it is not as cold on the feet as tiles but has better heat conduction than parquet, etc., which has advantages with underfloor heating.
