Hello,

I am currently selecting and purchasing network devices. For WLAN, it will probably be the UAP-AC-PRO (one per floor), unless the Wifi 6 Access Point from Ubiquiti hits the market in time. Side question: Would it be worth waiting with an old transitional device until Wifi 6 is available? According to my limited knowledge, Wifi 6 only has advantages with many, many simultaneous users, which is rather rare in a single-family home?

The PoE switch will probably also be from Ubiquiti, 16 ports with 150W. Or possibly Netgear. VLAN might be nice to neatly separate a few devices from the network, but not an absolute must.

Video door intercom is still 2N, Doorbird, and Gira in the selection (see another thread, I haven't made a decision yet).

Now the question: I have read rather mixed reports about the USG "router." Would it be better to use a FritzBox with Wi-Fi disabled here? Or what would you recommend? The FritzBox would have the advantage that you can also handle landline phones through it. Which other providers besides Fritz would be recommended here? WLAN performance of the router doesn't matter; it's about comfort and many nice features. It doesn't have to be semi-professional. QoS functions for stable IP TV while the kids do large downloads would also be beneficial.

Thanks in advance!

Better take the Nano HD or Flex HD as an access point. More modern, faster, longer support, and less power consumption. You could use the Dreammachine as a router. Saves an access point. New USGs will certainly come soon. We have USG, USG pro, and in my new house USG XG in use. No problems. With the USG you can then take advantage of all the benefits.

Thanks for the tip about the Nano HD! Then I'll take it.

So the USG isn't actually that bad as a router? Maybe I'll first take an old cheap box and then buy the successor of the USG. Or just the current USG right away.

What advantages does a pure ubiquiti solution offer?

How would you then handle the WLAN landline phones?

Dream machine as a router is a good tip, but I really don't need an additional WLAN transmitter in the technical room and on every floor there is already a central wall outlet planned for the well-visible Unifi access point. Status symbol and all that

I also have 2 AC Pro and the USG. On the WAN side, there is only a Gigacube LTE router connected. It does nothing other than providing internet.

One more question, is the cloud key important if you don't have any other server running 24/7? Or is it more of a "nice to have"?

CloudKey hangs next to it. The UniFi Controller running on it centrally configures your APs. If you want USG & CloudKey, better look for the DreamMachine. Both are included there.
