Which roof?

The roof type does not matter to me at first. Desired and realized were two floors without slanted walls. For pragmatic reasons, it became a "city villa" (after all, it is in the city, but it is not a villa just because of that) with a 25° hipped roof.

If I had my own plot of land and endless money, I would look for an architect and have a house planned according to my usage requirements suitable for the location. The roof would be the result of this planning, but not a specification.

We planned a town villa with a 30° hipped roof. Although we visually preferred the classic gable roof. For us, the advantage of space utilization on the upper floor without sloping ceilings was decisive. We chose 30° to achieve standing height in the middle of the attic. And two roof windows as well as a larger attic hatch to later have the option to install a fixed space-saving staircase and partially use the attic as a play area for the children or a hobby room.

with a monopitch roof of course, as this allowed for a significantly above-average room height and very large windows in the living areas.
In addition, the roof structure was also possible for me to do myself as a non-roofer.
