For 2500€ you can pay for the initial consultation several times out of your own pocket and, if there is a chance of success, also carry out a lawsuit, the costs are borne by the loser. Addendum: The insurance still has a 1000€ deductible!

In 2015, it cost us 1500€ or rather was supposed to cost that. We saved the money and don't regret it at all. We contracted all trades ourselves individually. If you have a certain technical understanding and check the construction site daily, defects can mostly be avoided. If you then prefer to spend the money on a building expert (but a good one), in my opinion, the money is better invested. If you notice something, you can ask them and intervene if necessary. And ideally, they find everything already.

Because the mistake that you can argue about because it is no longer there is always better...

I also find that outrageously expensive:

Case 1: you have nothing and pay €2,500 for NOTHING

Case 2: In the event of damage and you lose the legal dispute, then you have €2,500 that you spend anyway + €1,000 deductible, so at least €3,500 are spent despite having insurance

Case 3: In the event of damage and you win the legal dispute, you still pay €2,500.

Case 4: You have no insurance and nothing, then you also pay NOTHING

Case 5: In the event of damage and you win the legal dispute, then you also pay nothing (as far as I know)

Case 6: In the event of damage and you lose the legal dispute, then it can certainly get expensive, but you have €3,500 as a buffer that you would have paid anyway...

So in my opinion, the likelihood of paying more than with insurance is lower...
