OK, then I'll phrase it more precisely: In case of doubt, such a system can simply be deactivated and replaced by another ventilation concept. Although I do not necessarily consider window frame ventilation to be the ultimate ventilation concept...

Even if today we might be backing the wrong horse with an airtight envelope and controlled residential ventilation, I am currently still convinced of this solution. Possibly in combination with an earth tube or with an enthalpy heat exchanger. I am still a bit undecided about that...

We are also building with Nordhaus or rather, our house will be ready by the end of October/beginning of November.

It's not one of the big providers with slick salesmen and glossy brochures.

I was extremely surprised when our salesman/representative turned out to be a construction technician after some qualified statements.

They don't reinvent the wheel, but due to the company size, they are somewhat more flexible in some things or homeowner wishes than some of the big manufacturers who churn out 1000 houses a year.

Have neighbors who are very satisfied with their [Nordhaus project] that has been completed for a few years.

In the timber frame, the studs carry the load like in a half-timbered house. In the solid wood house, the virtually stacked boards carry the load – as is the case with Stommel Haus. Many people think of solid wood exclusively as log walls.

What you can also do (this is how we did it) is write a very detailed list of requirements. Along with the floor plans, send these to many of the common house builders (prefabricated houses and general contractors). We then received an offer with a comparison to our list of requirements (broken down into: included in the scope of work; additional costs; not possible). This way, you can also compare various manufacturers. The end result for us: no one could build our house the way we wanted.

What special requirements did you have that no one could meet?
