Where to put the Fritzbox/telephone?

Hello,

since I want to install a network in my soon-to-begin house construction, the question arises with my current configuration where exactly to place the devices.

How the network will ultimately look is clear. I thought to place the switch, router (FritzBox), etc. in the utility room and distribute the network from there.

Currently, our phone is connected to the FritzBox and that should remain the same. But if it is then placed/hung in the utility room, that somehow doesn’t make sense.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Just use the DECT phone. Then it doesn’t matter where the phone is.

We also still have such an old analog phone. In the network, we have the same configuration as you. In addition to the network cables, we had a telephone line installed in the living room (from the utility room). This line serves as an extension cable for the analog phone. In other words: The router / FritzBox is in the basement, from there with a cable into the extension, through the wall into a connection socket in the living room, and then from the socket with the normal telephone cable to the phone.

You surely lay enough network cables from the utility room to the individual rooms. In my opinion, with 2 adapters (TAE-RJ45 and RJ45-TAE) it should be possible to misuse such a network line as a telephone extension.

TAE output Fritzbox
thereon adapter TAE-N plug - RJ45 socket
connected with patch cable to
patch panel

e.g. living room
network socket
adapter RJ45 plug - TAE-N socket
analog telephone

I don't understand that. What does DECT have to do with it? If the base station is connected to the router in the utility room, the phone will still be in the utility room instead of, for example, on the desk, and that's quite impractical.

WASTL: Your suggestion is good and simple. I hadn't imagined it could be that easy. I think that's how I'll do it.

Thank you!!!!

The new Fritzboxes (7390, 7360, 7330, 7260, etc.) are simultaneously base stations for up to 6 DECT phones. This means you don't need to physically connect the phone to the Fritzbox anymore; you simply register it.

Quelle AVM Webseite
You can register up to six DECT cordless phones that support the DECT-GAP profile on your FRITZ!Box. DECT-GAP is a widespread standard for cordless phones and wireless data transmission that all AVM DECT cordless phones support. You can start the registration either in the menu of the phone or using the telephone device assistant in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
