Yes, that is of course not optimal. Careful planning is essential for a successful and affordable automation.

Hmm, it's hard to estimate because I was there now and then and did something, etc., as usual after work. The parameterization took about three days. Small changes were necessary at the beginning during ongoing operation. For years, I really haven't been involved, except when a new device had to be integrated again, etc. (but even then often only a matter of minutes).

Well, that's why I chose KNX. Actually, it runs on the principle: set and forget. You don't notice the technology, it just works.

Yes, definitely there was that.

It took me some time as well to find a capable and fair company. Moon prices were also quoted to me, or it was said outright that the job would only be accepted if a complete package was booked. Then with many zeros at the end as well...

Yes, I also had none for the first years and didn't really miss it. Often this is a mistake because the builders want everything immediately and with all the bells and whistles. That's part of the reason these monster offers from the electricians arise.

Yes, I initially had none, then briefly one via Commandfusion, now currently with smartVisu... and when I finally find time soon, I'll switch to the home server including visualization. Since there are no limits, everything is possible.

Well, the reasons vary. I believe you can get a minimal setup for little money. Seen that way, the wiring is even easier for the electrician. The cables only have to go from A to B. Only the distribution board gets bigger and needs more material and time. Parameterizing a small installation with few logics can be done in one working day and if you have experience and ready templates even before lunch.

I rather think the large sums come from the desired extensive range of functions. So the regular electrician has to buy in experience (because he usually only knows the system from his training time) and the "real" KNX electrician then often comes with "his" proven devices.

The already mentioned app access. Absolutely overrated, but a huge cost driver.

I assume that the Opel Adam covers the additional costs for KNX, right? For that money, you can't even get a conventional installation for a 150m² house from us, and your components already cost quite a bit.

Seen in this way, yes, they were roughly the additional costs.

Thank you for your contribution, tomorrow we have the first meeting with our electrical company. Since we are building with a general contractor, I am very curious whether KNX can be implemented. My hope is also to be able to do network, SAT & KNX myself...

I am also a big fan of the technology, would also have a lot of fun implementing it and creating the profiles, etc. as a hobby. Otherwise, I consider the comfort gain rather low, but of course that is also because I have no personal experience of what it would be like to live with it. In any case, for me, the benefit and (financial) effort do not stand in a reasonable relation, unfortunately. So the value is definitely there, don’t get me wrong. With a limited budget of sum x00,000€, you have to see how you distribute the money and there are investments with a higher benefit for me. In other words, I don’t see anything where I should currently save 20,000 (or significantly more) in our construction project to get a bit of automation in the house :-(

This is the most common reason why people encounter incomprehension. Most lack the experience and are simply used to doing things manually.

However, the gain in comfort is enormous, but one only becomes aware of it when experiencing it.

You don't have to either. As my example shows, quite a lot of automation is possible with not that much money, and 20,000 is not just a little more; quite a lot is possible with that.
