Hello,

I bought a house last year (built in 1982 if relevant) and now want to retroactively install an electric roller shutter on the windows and the door to the terrace. Additionally, on the other side of the house, I want to replace 4 windows and a terrace door and also retrofit an electric roller shutter in front of them.

Primarily as heat protection in summer as well as privacy protection and of course it certainly also saves some heating costs.

Now I am wondering if there is any possibility of receiving government grants for this project due to the increased energy efficiency?

You probably only get KFW if you get an efficiency house through the exchange. This would probably have to be checked by an expert. Only slightly more efficient is not subsidized. However, it must also be pointed out that a window-only replacement can have a negative impact on the indoor climate -> moisture on the walls, leading to mold. This was also recently discussed here in the forum.

That is not correct. There is also funding for individual measures – as long as the windows achieve a certain U-value, funding is available, also for sun protection. The subsidy rate is 15%. Just google "Bafa Einzelmaßnahmen".

Thanks for the information, but 15% is not really worth it for such a project if you also have the costs for an additionally necessary energy consultant.

Then it makes more sense, I think, to take advantage of the 20% tax relief over 3 years, since you don't need an energy consultant for that.

The windows being replaced are even already triple-glazed windows, which pains me somewhat in my soul, but unfortunately they are wooden windows whose mechanics have already been significantly compromised and which are no longer visually appealing and whose frames are partly no longer completely airtight, which can be seen, for example, when holding a lighter next to them and the flame is affected by the draft.

Yes, that's true. The advantage is that you receive the funding in one lump sum; through taxes, it takes 3 years.
