For us, the district heating is regulated as follows:
One-time costs for connection and installation: 4,000 €
Basic fee according to heating load: For us 4.65 x 140 € (651.00 €) / year
Consumption is calculated with a factor based on the price for light heating oil and is about 6 ct/kwh (I think). We consume around 9,000 kwh and pay accordingly 540.00 € for it.
That means we have total costs of around 1,200.00 € per year and don't have to worry about anything. The municipal utilities or their subcontractors come once a year for maintenance, and if the transfer station should ever break down, there’s simply a new one. The space requirement is also very low. The device is smaller than a refrigerator.
A small disadvantage with the current cold temperatures is that the water takes a little longer to get warm in the morning at 5 am when I get up.
