What did you spend on your front door?

Why is double-sided so important and why doesn't white fit? I'm glad I didn't present our door in the forum; I even find the color inappropriate there. It's a used one from the factory outlet, so without a selectable color - back then we were still watching every euro, that was before the really relevant additional costs... To the original question: €2,800.

Double-sided overlapping wings are not structurally important at all. It is only visually significant for the perceived quality, and there I would like to avoid "looks great on the outside, ..." White is a matter of taste, the color itself is not bad. White inside with non-white outside is primarily another color in the concerto of materials and surfaces that meet there: flooring, glazing of the side parts, ... - I wouldn't make too much of a mixed salad out of it. White (matte) looks from a distance similar to plastic. I don't want that at aluminum prices.

I have to admit, I was also rather surprised by the "plain" door of Hotzenplotz. Mega expensive property and then this front door? Well, and just like that, you start thinking about whether to add another 3000...

The price list for extras is already so long that I’m not adding any more chargeable items. I don’t have any sanitary prices yet, no electrician’s offer, no package for the certainly also expensive lighting, no painter’s offer, and no kitchen. As long as all that is not fixed and I see that there is still money available, I won’t finalize another front door. Even without a more expensive front door, I’m already over €900,000 with all of that. At some point, there’s simply no more room.

We could certainly do a foil inside, but for that the interior fittings, tiles, etc. would first have to be finalized in order to make a definitive decision.

Otherwise, we find the door okay. To me, high-quality bathroom tiles and great electrical installations are definitely more important.

You can always spend more, of course.

Which doors would you consider more suitable? They also had some catalogs of "premium front doors" there, starting at about €7,000. But given the prices, we didn’t even look at those.

Double-sided wing overlap would be nice. Otherwise, a door without glass is just the basic version. I personally don't see a problem with it if glass is added "around it" instead of embedding it into the door leaf (which is also cheaper). Color on the inside is a tricky thing. If you also have the windows white on the inside, I would leave it at that.

My wife absolutely does not want any glass in the door. She didn't even want a door with a slight pattern in it (lines etched in the same color). I also like the contrast - large glass surfaces to the left and right of the door and the door itself then appearing quite solid without glass. A peephole might be missing. But that can be tolerated. There will definitely be a video element outside.

The windows are white on the inside as well. Wrapping would cost another € 2,000. Not necessary.
