Hello dear forum,

We are building a house in the countryside in the summer on a plot set back from the road. Our water supplier informed us after consultation that we supposedly have to pay all the costs for the water connection and the water pipe ourselves. This is said to be because we need an unusually long pipe (90m) and therefore a special agreement. According to the water supplier’s statutes, however, the water supplier should normally cover the costs for laying the water pipe on public land. Of course, the costs on private property are borne by the builder.

In our case, about 40m of the necessary supply line are on public (paved) road. However, the supplier now also does not want to bear these costs.

Has anyone had similar experiences or knows the legal situation in such cases?

Best regards,
Hendrik

What is the estimate from the supplier?

The supplier assumes total costs of approximately 30,000 euros for the water pipe. An initial estimate from a company for earthworks, on the other hand, was rather around 15,000€.

well, what does the statute say in your city?

I think the public should not always have to pay for everything. so that justifies the costs being passed on

Hello everyone,

we are currently in a similar situation. We want to build a house at the end of the year on a plot of land located within the village area. The supply lines (water / sewage / electricity / telecommunications) still need to be laid. The connection to the last water hydrant, as well as the last sewage shaft, is about 50 m away from our property. Our suppliers also argue about an excessively long house connection. How is an excessively long house connection defined?.. The laying of the sewer + fresh water is to be carried out at our own expense. The company's offer is around €35,000. In addition, the water supplier requires a water meter shaft (around €4,200) due to the "excess length". A flat fee is also charged per m² of land on the property for sewage and fresh water. We also think that the costs should not remain solely with us, but currently it unfortunately looks like that..

AVBWasserV, §(9), 10+11.

By the way, I also think that the costs for my bicycles should not remain solely with me.
