Vinyl is not the same as vinyl. There are big differences, also with laminate. Go to a specialist store, not to the hardware store, and get advice. Both can be laid very well by yourself.
Hello everyone. We are also looking for suitable flooring for the upper floor (dressing room, bedroom, hallway, and office). Today we looked at vinyl flooring (29 euros/m^2). I am not entirely convinced since I have read a lot about plasticizers and emissions. A good carpet is, however, twice as expensive. Laminate is very sensitive to impact noise. Are there any new experiences with vinyl flooring by now?
In addition, from an environmental perspective, it is actually not justifiable to use vinyl flooring. If everyone throws it away after 15 years, we have a problem, because it must be disposed of in an incineration plant.
I have also recently read up on this a little. Currently, there are (to my modest knowledge) only two "variants" of vinyl that definitely do not emit potentially harmful plasticizers in significant amounts, and these are ones with plasticizers based on citric acid or adipic acid. There are also other plasticizer substitutes that are considered safer, but I am skeptical. Phthalates were also considered safe before 2000... Citric acid and adipic acid are also approved as food or additives, which personally suffices for me as proof of usability.
