And where did I write anything in connection with surface-mounted/concealed of inferior or superior quality? It was an EXAMPLE to illustrate how differently (personal) "standards" can be defined – and we came from the "what is standard" corner because the cookie apparently felt attacked. My contribution was actually meant to clarify that there is no reason to feel attacked because it is subjective and therefore one should not feel compelled to defend oneself... sometimes really amusing here in the forum... end.

It is, in my opinion, a hype because it is currently ubiquitous.

As I said, I associate it with the nastiest old buildings and therefore cannot find anything high-quality about it. I also do not think that the necessary material would be worth a significant additional cost.

True, we do, hence my last post on the OT with the note that “idiots” referred less to the specific post and more to a variety of other posts in this forum that show this tendency. Interestingly, it is often expressed by builders towards other builders with more budget than their own. Tolerance ends for me where the intolerance of others begins - and here I simply had enough. I'm logging off here now...
