We have most of the roller shutter switches nearby. In the living room at a central spot a tablet on the wall; because there are 4 roller shutters there

Take a look at homematic. It costs about 50 euros per shutter and can easily be done step by step by yourself and is much more flexible.

True. Homematic is really good as a "do it yourself" solution. Unfortunately not as cheap anymore and you have to like radio signals..

Originally, I wanted a radio control for my roller shutters, but they ended up being push-button switches on the windows. We now walk through the ground floor once in the morning and evening and let the roller shutters go up or down....it doesn't really bother us.

Hi,
we only replaced the normal up-down switches with timers ourselves later on.
It was quick and easy and relatively inexpensive (€40/switch), because we didn’t use the timers from our switch program (Busch-Jaeger Reflex SI), but from a cheaper provider that could simply be integrated into the existing frames.

We decided against the timers from the original manufacturer because they were three times as expensive and we didn’t see the advantage (except, of course, that they perfectly match the rest of the switches visually). Our timers even have more functions, e.g. a sun sensor that lowers the shutters when the sun shines strongly on the windows. Very practical in summer to prevent the house from heating up too much.

By the way, we don’t have a central control and don’t miss it since we have the timers. Since then, we hardly ever operate the shutters manually up and down, but control them via astro function (according to sunset time). It’s so easy that you really don’t need a central switch anymore.
We only operate the shutters manually if the sun ever disturbs us while watching TV.

If I understand you correctly, that is exactly what we are doing.
Every roller shutter has a motor and its own rocker switch at the door.

However, the control cables from the switch do not run directly to the roller shutter.
Instead, the/all control cables from the switches (throughout the house) go down to the main distribution room.
Likewise, every cable to the roller shutter itself runs from this central point to all the roller shutters in the house.
In the mentioned central point, we now install (quantity: 1) a programmable switch (presumably from Rademacher, see other current thread). This receives, via an astro function, instructions on when to move up and down and sends the signal to all! roller shutters in the house. The switches have nothing to say at that moment.

Yes, this requires more cable effort, but empty conduits exist from the power source anyway to all light switches in the house, so the empty conduit is already there. Only additional wires are pulled through, so it’s not that much extra effort.
And the surcharge for the (quantity: 1) switch is moderate at around €80 once.

Disadvantage: you cannot control each roller shutter individually by time, but I think the sun will go down relatively simultaneously for all roller shutters. And if you don’t feel like it in a bedroom, you can simply disconnect the central wire.

This was all the suggestion of our electrician. I cannot quantify additional costs here.
