You can close the umbrella with a universal key (Engländer) without a crank if you don't want to tinker further. If you still feel like building, you can also encourage the screw to hold with a drop of nail polish. The crucial factor is the perfect fit of the plate to be screwed tight on the counterpart on the axle.

I already thought about the little plate, thanks. So I have now first contacted the dealer asking for a response, and tomorrow while they are staffed I will also call the hotline. It’s a bit time-critical. Hopefully it will stay as it is overnight. We absolutely couldn’t get it closed, experiments like nail polish or something I would only try if their support gives me the go-ahead. They have to make sure they get it exchanged for me. I would just like a new model, basically the umbrella is very nice for the price. But with something like the thread you can tell the price, although other customers apparently had no problems.

But I also think with a new umbrella you should first involve the dealer, I would already have the expectation that the part can be closed again once I have opened it. :) Especially since the broken part was not one that we installed. The umbrella was pre-assembled except for the base.

Thanks for the tip with the Engländer, a neighbor had one and with that it closed. Obi has now offered me a return and a 10% voucher for the purchase of another. Unfortunately, our umbrella is no longer available. And the others in the price category of €100 look significantly less valuable in terms of the entire frame and structure. I assume our umbrella was a clearance item and therefore maybe so cheap, not sure. Now I am wondering if there is a possibility to drill it out and screw in a new, larger screw, and keep it. What kind of tool would I need for that?

You would need a thread tap of the next size. Please measure the screw diameter (looks like M8 to me). Then you will also need a suitable drill bit for the new thread. However, there won't be much "meat" left. Or you can glue the old screw in with 2K adhesive. But that is permanent.

Blind hole tap, measure size with caliper/vernier caliper, use the next possible oversize
