I would use a pipe wrench and place the jaws on the two steps, then turn to the left. Or use a left-hand extractor if available in the hole. The thread inside is already damaged anyway.

I wouldn't do that. Afterwards, they might say you caused the damage. Complain about the defect and ask for a replacement or a refund. I would put the fact that it doesn't close on the dealer. It can't be your problem.

... for me, that looks easy to solve. The crank, like the shaft, has a rectangular shape. The screw should hold the crank on the shaft, the rectangular shape prevents twisting. The thread in the shaft is damaged, so the umbrella cannot be repaired by itself (I probably could ;) by reaming the thread with a (blind hole) tap to the next size, then put in a matching screw - done. Here: return to Sender

But your problem is to find a quick solution to secure the part. It doesn't help you much if the dealer shows up in a few days but the part is already lying in the next new development because the wind blew it away there. I once had a traffic light umbrella too. It was a sunny day. A gentle breeze blew, went into the house, and suddenly a gust of wind twisted the umbrella 180 degrees and additionally turned the umbrella from bottom to top. That means the underside was then on top. After that, everything was total wreck, all the rods broken, etc. PP.

Then just take an "Englishman".

Well, then you put the umbrella in a corner or whatever. Write to them today, point out that if there is no response, the mechanism will be destroyed to prevent damage to the surroundings and that's it. The item needs to be claimed and replaced or refunded. I'm not a fan of withdrawal, but in this case it makes sense. Sounds like [Fernabsatzgesetz], make use of it.

Place a small open-end wrench on the surfaces of the threaded shaft and fold carefully together
